AIDC and Sensor Technologies InSync Supports

InSync software is hardware agnostic by design. This means that customers aren't required to all use the same AIDC and sensor technologies in every application. InSync's philosophy is to fit the right technology with the right application, whether it be RFID, barcodes, vision systems, GPS, or environmental sensors (such as Wi-Fi temperature sensors). Depending on the application, certain technologies may offer more benefits, cost savings or ease of use more than others. Basically it comes down to what the customers overall goals are, what data needs to be collected, and the environment it is to be collected in. Once these factors are determined, the right technology or combination of technologies can easily be identified, and the application is off and running.

Below are just some of the AIDC and sensor technologies our software supports and leverages to provide location and condition of assets and visibility of business processes such as shipping/receiving, check-in check-out, etc.

RFID

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using RFID tags or transponders. The technology at a minimum requires an RFID reader and an RFID tag. An RFID tag can be applied to or incorporated into a product, person, vehicle, etc for the purpose of identification and tracking. There are many flavors and varieties of RFID tags, antennas and readers. Depending on the application, and the RFID frequency of the system,, tags offer a read range of anywhere from an inch up to 1000s of feet. Tags are available in a label form, encapsulated, and in other varieties as well. Some tags, referred to as active, or semi-active, use a battery to increase read range, allow for more data to be stored, and increase lifetime. Typically these tags are used for high value assets, verses paper label tags which come at a lower cost and can be disposed of after a single use.

InSync has a variety of RFID hardware partners covering the technology spectrum, and can assist customers in determining which flavor is optimal for their specific application

GPS

GPS devices are abundantly available from numerous manufacturers. GPS devices calculate position by carefully timing the signals sent by the GPS satellites high above the Earth. Each satellite continually transmits messages containing the time the message was sent, precise orbital information, and the general system health and rough orbits of all GPS satellites. The receiver measures the transit time of each message and computes the distance to each satellite. GPS devices can be used to track mobile assets, as well as provide location for stored assets such as construction materials or shipping containers. Many GPS units also show derived information such as direction and speed, calculated from position changes.

InSync's applications allow for GPS integration to rapidly locate assets, and provide a visual reference using satellites imagery, ariel photography, or CAD drawings.

Temperature Sensors

Tracking location of assets is critical. In many applications is location alone won't do, and it's imperative to track the condition of assets as well. Fresh food, chemicals and other sensitive products must be maintained in a certain state, and temperature sensors have the capability to monitor condition as assets are produced, shipped and stored. InSync's software is capable of receiving data from dispersed temperature sensors, allowing customers to track the condition of assets, set up alerts when out of defined-tolerence conditions occur, and better prioritize incoming product to minimize waste and risk of contamination. Temperature sensors come in a variety of flavors, including Wi-FI.

Barcodes

Since the first pack of chewing gum was outfitted with a barcode nearly 60 years ago, the technology has taken off and is used in nearly every asset of business. InSync's software utilizes barcode technology by associating barcode IDs with business information relevant to the customer. In the field, barcodes can be scanned on distributed assets and the software can reference all associated attributes, and use this information to issue alerts, maintain warranties, provide location, and much more.

InSync's products support all commercially available barcode technologies, including 2D, Matrix and others.

Supported Platforms/Operating Systems

InSync's Applications are compatible with a variety of OS, and enterprise platforms, including Microsoft Mobile, .NET, Vista, and many more.
